Senior Public Works Technician

Description:

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility of Québec (MTMD) is seeking a Senior Public Works Technician specialized in concrete pavement to join its Chaudière-Appalaches Projects Directorate.

This position involves supervising technical teams, preparing and reviewing plans, specifications, and documents for complex roadwork (highways, urban boulevards, and specialized construction sites), and coordinating large-scale concrete pavement reconstruction projects.

You will act as a team leader, ensure project quality control, and contribute to the technical and administrative oversight of road infrastructure projects valued at $5M and above.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support technicians in project preparation, plan development, cost estimates, and survey data validation.

• Design, review, and coordinate concrete pavement construction projects.

• Manage project timelines, technical checkpoints, and tender schedules.

• Participate in site inspections, technical meetings, and stakeholder coordination (municipalities, police, local communities).

• Supervise internal and external teams during project monitoring and issue appropriate recommendations.

• Analyze unforeseen work, negotiate pricing adjustments, and ensure proper documentation and payments.

• Ensure compliance with safety, technical, and quality standards.
