Research Chair

Description:

École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) is seeking exceptional candidates to lead prestigious Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC) in strategic research areas. The CERC program is the most prestigious research award in Canada, offering grants up to 1 million CAD per year for up to eight years.

Candidates interested in this unique opportunity should express their interest as soon as possible, and no later than September 30, 2025. All applications will be treated confidentially.

Successful candidates may be invited to submit a full application for a professor position at ÉTS, following standard hiring procedures. National competition results will be announced in January 2027, with appointments to start within the following 12 months.

Targeted Research Areas:

The Chair should align with one or more strategic priorities set by the Canadian government and ÉTS’s research plan, including but not limited to:

• Aeronautics and Aerospace

• Sustainable Development, Circular Economy, and Environmental Issues

• Infrastructure and Built Environments

Exceptional proposals in other strategic areas of ÉTS are also welcome, including:

• Sensors, Networks, and Connectivity

• Quantum Engineering

• Innovative Materials and Advanced Manufacturing

• Intelligent and Autonomous Systems

• Software Systems, Multimedia, and Cybersecurity

• Health Technologies

Candidate Profile:

The program targets highly qualified researchers, either Associate Professors (soon to be tenured) or Full Professors, from academia or industry.

Selected candidates will be expected to:

• Develop ambitious, high-impact research projects.

• Strengthen ÉTS’s position as a hub for interdisciplinary, collaborative, and innovative research excellence.

• Build international-caliber research teams.

• Promote knowledge mobilization within and beyond academia.
