Time Librarian

School District No. 60 (Peace River North) is seeking a temporary part-time (0.1 FTE) Librarian to join Upper Pine Elementary/Jr. Secondary School in Rose Prairie, BC, effective immediately until June 30, 2026. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a scenic rural community while contributing to a supportive and innovative educational environment.

Upper Pine Elementary/Jr. Secondary School is a K–8 institution located 30 minutes north of Fort St. John, serving approximately 180 students, including 30% Indigenous learners and 25% English as a Second Language students. The school promotes hands-on learning, outdoor engagement, and a close-knit educational community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the school library, ensuring access to a diverse collection of resources for students and staff.

• Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom instruction.

• Support students in developing strong literacy, research, and information management skills.

• Implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.

• Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging library environment.

• Organize and facilitate reading programs, book fairs, and literacy-focused events.

• Maintain accurate records of library inventory and student borrowing.

• Collaborate with the school team to foster a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification).

• Post-secondary education in Library Sciences.

• Demonstrated experience as a teacher-librarian.

• Strong understanding of BC Curriculum and instructional planning.

• Experience with Social Emotional Learning and creating a positive classroom community.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

• Commitment to inclusive education and student-centered learning.

• Proven ability to implement proactive classroom management and assessment practices that uphold student dignity.
