Description:
School District No. 60 (Peace River North) is seeking a temporary part-time (0.1 FTE) Librarian to join Upper Pine Elementary/Jr. Secondary School in Rose Prairie, BC, effective immediately until June 30, 2026. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a scenic rural community while contributing to a supportive and innovative educational environment.
Upper Pine Elementary/Jr. Secondary School is a K–8 institution located 30 minutes north of Fort St. John, serving approximately 180 students, including 30% Indigenous learners and 25% English as a Second Language students. The school promotes hands-on learning, outdoor engagement, and a close-knit educational community.
Manage and maintain the school library, ensuring access to a diverse collection of resources for students and staff.
Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom instruction.
Support students in developing strong literacy, research, and information management skills.
Implement Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging library environment.
Organize and facilitate reading programs, book fairs, and literacy-focused events.
Maintain accurate records of library inventory and student borrowing.
Collaborate with the school team to foster a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment.
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification).
Post-secondary education in Library Sciences.
Demonstrated experience as a teacher-librarian.
Strong understanding of BC Curriculum and instructional planning.
Experience with Social Emotional Learning and creating a positive classroom community.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Proven ability to implement proactive classroom management and assessment practices that uphold student dignity.
