Sessional Instructor

Description:

The Department of Biology at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) invites applications to join its pool of sessional instructors for lecture and lab positions beginning in Winter 2026 and potentially continuing beyond. The successful applicants may be assigned to teach a range of courses depending on budget and student enrolment. Priority will be given to candidates able to teach first-year introductory biology courses for majors (BIO 111 and BIO 112) as well as core second-year cellular biology courses (BIO 201 and BIO 202).

The University is seeking passionate educators with a demonstrated ability to teach and communicate effectively with undergraduate students. Instructors will be responsible for preparing and delivering lectures and labs, assessing student performance, and creating an engaging learning environment. A strong commitment to student success, inclusivity, and academic excellence is essential.

Applicants must have at least a Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Biology or a closely related field, with a Ph.D. preferred. Previous teaching experience at the university level and evidence of teaching excellence will be considered strong assets. Candidates should also possess strong communication skills, the ability to explain complex biological concepts clearly, and a dedication to fostering student learning.

UFV is deeply committed to Indigenization, equity, diversity, and inclusion. As part of its institutional vision, the university values Indigenous ways of knowing and strives to build a more inclusive academic community. Applicants from underrepresented groups, including Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, persons with disabilities, and racialized groups, are strongly encouraged to apply.
