Graduate Nurse

Description:

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), one of BC’s Top Employers, is inviting applications for Nursing Instructor positions in the Graduate Nurse Internationally Educated Re-entry (GNIE) program within the Faculty of Health. This program is a full-time one-year certificate designed to support internationally educated nurses (IENs) in preparing for professional nursing practice and licensure in Canada.

The GNIE program equips IENs with the necessary skills and knowledge to integrate into the Canadian healthcare system by renewing and enhancing previously acquired competencies, addressing individual learning needs, meeting professional practice requirements, and developing effective communication with patients and colleagues. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

The Faculty of Health is seeking instructors for inclusion on its Qualified Faculty List, primarily for clinical supervisory roles. This list supports future non-regular Type 1 contract opportunities as they become available. Clinical placements are located at hospitals across the Lower Mainland, and successful candidates must be prepared to travel independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical instruction and supervision to GNIE students in healthcare settings.

  • Support IENs in developing and enhancing nursing skills and competencies to meet Canadian professional practice standards.

  • Guide students in adapting to the Canadian healthcare environment, emphasizing patient-centered care and effective communication.

  • Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to support academic and professional growth.

  • Contribute to maintaining program excellence through teaching, mentoring, and collaborative engagement with faculty.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (or Master’s in progress).

  • Eligibility for practicing membership with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) with no conditions, limits, or terms.

  • Experience in the integration and education of IENs in Canada (preferred).

  • Relevant clinical and educational work experience in Canada.

Benefits & Rewards:
KPU offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including extended health and dental coverage, healthcare spending account, generous vacation, defined pension plan, parenthood top-up, sick leave, long-term disability, life insurance, tuition waiver, professional development opportunities, inter-campus transportation, and more. Eligibility and benefits vary depending on employee group and position status.
