Physics Instructor

Description:

Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), one of British Columbia’s leading polytechnic institutions, is inviting applications for the position of Physics Instructor (NR2 – 100% FTE) within the Faculty of Science. This is a one-year full-time temporary appointment offering the opportunity to teach physics and astronomy courses at the undergraduate level across multiple campuses.

As a teaching-focused institution, KPU is committed to delivering high-quality, hands-on, and innovative education. The selected candidate will contribute to the academic growth of students through effective instruction, mentorship, and participation in departmental activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach introductory physics courses (PHYS 1100, 1101, 1120) and/or astronomy courses (ASTR 1100, 3110) across fall, spring, and summer semesters.

• Develop and deliver engaging lectures, labs, and assignments in accordance with KPU’s teaching standards.

• Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to promote academic growth.

• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and student advising as required.

• Travel between KPU Surrey and Richmond campuses (not on the same day).

• Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that supports diverse student populations.

Qualifications:

• Minimum Master’s degree in Physics or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).

• Proven excellence in teaching undergraduate physics and/or astronomy courses.

• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to teach effectively in English.

• Experience with online instructional delivery (an asset).
