Description:
Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), one of British Columbia’s leading polytechnic institutions, is inviting applications for the position of Physics Instructor (NR2 – 100% FTE) within the Faculty of Science. This is a one-year full-time temporary appointment offering the opportunity to teach physics and astronomy courses at the undergraduate level across multiple campuses.
As a teaching-focused institution, KPU is committed to delivering high-quality, hands-on, and innovative education. The selected candidate will contribute to the academic growth of students through effective instruction, mentorship, and participation in departmental activities.
Teach introductory physics courses (PHYS 1100, 1101, 1120) and/or astronomy courses (ASTR 1100, 3110) across fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Develop and deliver engaging lectures, labs, and assignments in accordance with KPU’s teaching standards.
Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to promote academic growth.
Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and student advising as required.
Travel between KPU Surrey and Richmond campuses (not on the same day).
Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that supports diverse student populations.
Minimum Master’s degree in Physics or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
Proven excellence in teaching undergraduate physics and/or astronomy courses.
Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to teach effectively in English.
Experience with online instructional delivery (an asset).
