Machine Operator

Description:

The Ville de Québec is seeking skilled and motivated operators-mechanics of stationary machines to join its energy recovery center team. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of incinerator systems and related equipment, contributing to the city’s mission of energy recovery from residual materials while ensuring environmental compliance and operational targets.

Key responsibilities include:

• Identifying and addressing irregularities in the operation of equipment, resolving minor defects promptly.

• Conducting inspections and supervisory rounds of systems and equipment according to established schedules.

• Ensuring consistent feed to furnace chutes and operating overhead cranes.

• Assisting in major maintenance works during partial or complete shutdowns of facilities.

• Adhering to workplace safety regulations and using safe working methods.

• Reporting dangerous situations or anomalies to the immediate supervisor.

Requirements:

• Valid stationary engine mechanic qualification certificate (MMF class 4, 3, 2, or 1) in the energy production category.

• Ability to obtain certification for operating an overhead crane.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in an industrial environment.

• Teamwork ability, rigorous adherence to health and safety protocols.

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
