Camino Law Group, a dynamic and client-focused law firm in Calgary, is seeking a dedicated Junior Associate to join our team. We specialize in Immigration, Employment, and Personal Injury Law, providing top-tier legal services to our diverse clientele.

We are looking for a Junior Associate to help us expand our litigation practice, and who enjoys working in a variety of practice areas and values access to justice.

Our areas of practice include:

Immigration:

  • Refugees and humanitarian immigration
  • Family sponsorship
  • Economic, student and business immigration

Civil litigation:

  • Employment law both employee and management side
  • Human rights
  • Landlord tenancy
  • Personal injury

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • File management and perform administrative functions related to the practice of law
  • Draw up legal documents and prepare statements of legal opinion
  • Research legal precedents and gather evidence
  • Client follow-up and communication to obtain documents and information as required by the file.
  • Legal research for submission to and review and approval by Managing Lawyer.
  • Legal drafting as required by the file.
  • Court and/or tribunal appearance and advocacy.

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Our practice is fast paced, and we help clients from all walks of life. We are looking for a candidate who is resourceful and can think creatively. We work with a wide range of issues, so adaptability to new situations would be an asset.

 

  • Graduate from a Canadian law school or Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation (foreign trained lawyers welcomed to apply).
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
  • First to Third year call.
  • Familiarity with litigation required. Experience with civil litigation, employment, personal injury, or immigration will be considered assets.
  • Strong legal writing skills and experience in advocacy.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with legal databases and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in a language other than English is a strong asset.
  • Experience in community work or assisting vulnerable populations will be considered an asset.
