Description:
The Salvation Army in Canada, a faith-based organization serving communities for over 130 years, is seeking a compassionate and organized Food Bank Support Worker to join its team in Trail, BC. This role is essential in supporting vulnerable individuals and families by ensuring the effective collection, management, and distribution of food resources.
As a Food Bank Support Worker, you will be responsible for coordinating donations, managing stock, preparing and distributing food hampers, and assisting with Food Rescue Store operations. This role requires a combination of physical work, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to serving clients with dignity and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
Donation Collection & Documentation: Pick up donations from community partners, weigh and record all incoming food, and maintain accurate documentation.
Inventory & Stock Management: Sort food items per safety guidelines, rotate stock to minimize waste, and monitor inventory levels.
Food Hamper Preparation & Distribution: Assemble hampers tailored to family size and dietary needs, distribute them respectfully, and ensure confidentiality for clients.
Food Rescue Store Operations: Organize and staff the Food Rescue Store, assist clients, maintain daily client service logs, and ensure the store is clean, stocked, and welcoming.
Working Conditions:
Physical work including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
Both indoor and outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions

Qualifications & Skills:
Commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, and values
Valid driver’s license with a clear abstract
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain equity, inclusion, and client confidentiality
Must provide a satisfactory background check (including Child Check where applicable)
Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive hourly wage between CAD 17.85 – 20.43, with growth potential up to CAD 24.52
Placement in the range based on skills, experience, and internal equity
