Adult Education Instructional Assistant

Description:

The Adult Education Instructional Assistant supports teaching and learning at the Vancouver School Board’s Gathering Place Learning Centre. Reporting to an instructor, the Instructional Assistant works collaboratively with teachers to support students in a wide range of subjects, focusing on English and Humanities at the Grade 11 and 12 levels. Some familiarity with Foundations Math/Science is considered an asset.

Adult Education at VSB provides youth and adult learners with opportunities ranging from Foundations-level courses to secondary school completion. Courses are structured and self-paced, following Ministry of Education curriculum, and help students achieve academic goals, including the Adult Dogwood Diploma.

Instructional Assistants are expected to have an undergraduate degree in English/Humanities, excellent oral and written English communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They may also support students and staff using technology, including Moodle.
