Road Network Patrol Officer

Description:

The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec (MTMD) is seeking a Surveillant(e) du Réseau Routier to join its Direction générale de la Montérégie under the Direction de l’exploitation (DE). This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy fieldwork, driving, and contributing directly to public safety and service quality on Quebec’s road networks.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safety, maintenance, and proper functioning of the road network by identifying anomalies, responding to incidents, and supporting road users. The position involves rotating 12-hour shifts (day/night) with a weekly schedule of 38 hours and 45 minutes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to road incidents/accidents ensuring site safety with proper emergency signage and coordination with emergency services

• Verify road conditions and ensure proper snow removal by contractors

• Follow up on public complaints or partner reports regarding road conditions

• Perform road maintenance activities such as removing unauthorized signage, cleaning debris, filling hazardous potholes, and monitoring rest areas

• Log observations and incident reports accurately

• Participate in the Ministry’s operational monitoring system

Job Requirements:

• Secondary School Diploma (DES) or recognized equivalent

  • Missing years of education can be compensated by work or family care experience

  • Foreign education must be evaluated by the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI)

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license

• Proficiency in French appropriate to job duties

• Must have Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit
