Description:

The Nunavik Police Service (SPN), operating under the Administration régionale Kativik (ARK), is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to serve as Capitaine (Police Captain) for a two-year full-time contract. This senior leadership position plays a pivotal role in directing, coordinating, and managing police operations across assigned territories in Nunavik.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations, the Captain will be responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of police operations, supervising staff, and overseeing the management of human, financial, and material resources. The role requires strong leadership and communication skills to establish and maintain effective relationships with local elected officials, community representatives, partner organizations, and the general public. The Captain will also be tasked with implementing strategies to address evolving issues such as crime trends, road safety, and public security concerns.

This position demands flexibility, as the incumbent must be available on-call outside regular hours to handle emergency operations, travel regularly throughout Nunavik, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must meet minimum requirements under the Quebec Police Act to serve as a police officer.

  • At least 15 years of policing experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.

  • Experience in multicultural environments is an asset.

  • Strong leadership, planning, organizational, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage human resources and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in English required; knowledge of French and Inuktitut considered an asset.

  • University degree in administration or police management is an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary of CAD 133425 (approx. CAD 11118.75 per month).

  • Cost-of-living allowance: minimum CAD 8500 per year.

  • Food allowance: minimum CAD 4216 per year.

  • Annual travel allowance: up to three trips per person per year.

  • Pension plan: employer contribution of 6.5% and employee contribution of 4%.

  • Comprehensive group insurance coverage.

  • 30 vacation days per year.

  • 20 paid days in lieu of statutory holidays.

  • 120 hours of paid leave for on-call duty.
