Wire harnesses are critical components in everything from EVs to aircraft to data centers, yet the industry remains highly manual and inefficient. Loombotic is revolutionizing this $200B+ market through advanced robotics and automation.

As the Founding Mechanical Engineer, you will architect and build the automation systems that will transform wire harness manufacturing. This is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary role where you will design machines, fixtures, and robotic systems, while deeply understanding the manufacturing process and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build automation systems, machines, and fixtures for wire harness manufacturing.

• Master the wire harness production process and quality standards.

• Develop testing and inspection systems to ensure product reliability.

• Make foundational technical decisions as a member of the founding engineering team.

• Wear multiple hats: design, prototype, program robots, and scale production capabilities.

Required Skills:

• Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes.

• Proficiency in CAD software (Onshape, SolidWorks, or similar).

• Hands-on building experience with tools, projects, or internships.

• Strong problem-solving skills and a fast-learning mindset.

• Excited by ambiguity, wearing multiple hats, and building from scratch.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with wire harnesses, cable assemblies, or electrical connectors.

• Robotics or automation project experience.

• Programming skills (Python, C++, Arduino).

• Machine shop experience (mill, lathe, 3D printing).

• Knowledge of industrial automation (PLCs, vision systems, motion control).

• Experience handling compliant/flexible materials.

• Previous startup experience.

• IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or knowledge.
