Legal Counsel

Description:

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC), a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd., is looking for a qualified Legal Counsel to join their team on the Scarborough Subway Extension project. This position involves providing legal leadership on major project agreements, including drafting, negotiating, and managing a variety of contracts related to the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft and negotiate project agreements, including construction, O&M contracts, consortium agreements, and financing agreements.

• Provide legal support for major project bids and ensure compliance with STC’s policies.

• Collaborate with senior management and project teams to prepare negotiation positions.

• Foster a productive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment focused on integrity and excellence.

• Manage legal consultation processes and maintain strong partnerships with external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Active member of a Law Society in Canada.

• 3+ years of legal experience in private practice or as in-house counsel specializing in contract law and negotiations.

• Experience with public-private partnerships, project finance, and commercial contracts.

• Strong verbal reasoning and contract interpretation skills.

• Excellent communicator, negotiator, and consensus builder with the ability to influence stakeholders.
