Intermediate To Senior Commercial Litigation Lawyer

Gilbertson Davis is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial commercial litigation lawyer for an intermediate to senior-level position. This role offers the potential for early equity partnership participation based on performance and billable/recovered fees. Energetic candidates who meet targets can expect to earn in excess of six figures.

Ideal for a self-starter committed to the practice of law, the position requires keen analytical, drafting, advocacy, research, and communication skills. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with senior lawyers in a boutique environment as well as independently when necessary.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing commercial litigation matters, including business disputes, commercial disputes, IP (especially trademark), internet and technology, real estate, condo law, and commercial leasing.

• Handling urgent matters such as injunctions and other equitable remedies.

• Engaging in insurance litigation, including coverage, cyber risk, and defense.

• Developing and deploying litigation strategies for files and clients.

• Responding quickly to the demands of a commercial litigation practice.

• Working with clients, including direct retention and intake processes.

• Drafting retainer agreements and marketing materials, including law firm website content, blogs, and articles for potential clients.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of several years of experience in commercial litigation.

• Intimate familiarity with the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure, especially in motions and court settings.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with senior lawyers.

• Experience or interest in business, IP, real estate, condo law, commercial leasing, and insurance litigation.

• A demonstrated marketing aptitude, with a focus on client acquisition and retention.

• Experience in drafting and publishing marketing materials, including blogging.
