Wire harnesses are essential components in industries ranging from electric vehicles and aircraft to data centers. Despite being a $200B+ market, the production of wire harnesses remains largely manual and inefficient. Loombotic’s mission is to automate this process through advanced robotics and automation systems.

As a Founding Mechanical Engineer, you will be a core member of the team, responsible for architecting and building automation systems that will transform wire harness production. This is a hands-on role requiring a deep understanding of the manufacturing process while designing machines, fixtures, and robotic systems. You will also develop testing and inspection systems to ensure high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and build automation systems, machines, fixtures, and robotic solutions for wire harness manufacturing.

• Gain mastery in wire harness production processes and quality standards.

• Own quality by developing testing and inspection systems to ensure product reliability.

• Shape the company’s technical architecture as a founding engineer.

Required Skills:

• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals (mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes).

• Proficiency in CAD software (Onshape, SolidWorks, or similar).

• Hands-on building experience with tools or projects.

• Problem-solving mindset to break down complex challenges.

• Fast learner with the ability to self-educate.

• Startup-ready attitude—comfortable with ambiguity and wearing multiple hats.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with wire harnesses, cable assemblies, or electrical connectors.

• Robotics or automation project experience.

• Programming skills (Python, C++, Arduino, etc.).

• Machine shop experience (mill, lathe, 3D printing).

• Knowledge of industrial automation (PLCs, vision systems, motion control).

• Experience handling compliant/flexible materials.

• Previous startup or small company experience.

• IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification or knowledge.
