Description:
Our client, a leading full-service law firm with a diverse clientele, is looking for an experienced Family Lawyer to join their team. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in family law and a book of business. This is an opportunity to independently manage family law files, while also having the option to expand into other areas of law within the firm.
You will handle a variety of family law matters including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, asset division, and more. The role will involve conducting hearings, mediations, discoveries, and trials, as well as instructing support staff and negotiating at mediations. Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently manage family law files
Handle matters such as separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division
Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials
Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients
Draft pleadings and manage chamber applications
Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials
Oversee all aspects of a file from start to finish
Experience in general civil litigation is an asset
Requirements:
Minimum of 4 years of current experience in family law practice in British Columbia
Ability to manage challenging work and files independently
Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills
Enthusiasm for growing your practice and working towards partnership
Book of business (BOB) preferred
Compensation:
Base salary based on year of call, book of business, and other factors.
