White and Company Family Law is looking for a compassionate and skilled Family Law Paralegal to join their legal team in Penticton, BC, offering hybrid and remote work flexibility. Role Overview:
As a Family Law Paralegal, you will be a critical support to the team of lawyers, assisting in managing family law cases and enhancing client experience. Your role will involve managing client communications, preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, and coordinating case timelines while adhering to BC Family Law procedures and guidelines.
Support lawyers in managing family law files including divorce, childcare, and spousal support matters.
Act as initial client contact to manage expectations and assist in client intake, ensuring effective use of lawyer time and client retainers.
Draft, review, and prepare letters, pleadings, affidavits, and legal documents based on client and lawyer instructions.
Conduct legal research on procedural processes, caselaw, and regulations under lawyer direction.
Monitor case timelines and coordinate hearings, mediations, and trial schedules with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams.
Ensure compliance with BC Family Law regulations and Law Society of BC guidelines.
Maintain professional and empathetic communication with clients, handling sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
Use legal and document management software including Microsoft Office Suite, Court Services Online, LTSA, and BC Online.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervising lawyers.
Familiarity with family law processes, court systems, and legal documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive client information professionally.
Positive, client-focused attitude and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
Experience with Court Services Online, LTSA, and BC Online is preferred.
Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Paralegal Studies or equivalent education/experience.
Minimum 2 years of prior experience working as a paralegal, ideally in family law.
Prior experience in a law firm environment is strongly preferred.
Personal experience with family law courts or family law matters is considered an asset.
