Defense Litigation Attorney

Description:

A leading municipal and insurance defense law firm, with over 70 years of excellence in representing public entities across the New York metropolitan area, is hiring for the role of Municipal Defense Litigation Attorney. The firm specializes in defending municipalities in diverse civil matters including negligence, civil rights claims, and employment disputes. This opportunity is remote/hybrid, with no in-office requirement unless court appearances are scheduled.

You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative legal team known for their litigation excellence and longstanding reputation in the insurance defense sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent public entities and municipalities in litigation involving general liability, transportation-related incidents (including emergency vehicles), and premises liability

• Handle employment-related defense cases, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation under Title VII, ADEA, and ADA

• Draft motions, conduct depositions, prepare for and attend court hearings, and participate in trial preparation

Candidate Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

• Admitted to the New York State Bar

• At least 2 years of relevant litigation experience, particularly in municipal law, government defense, or insurance defense

• Strong experience with motion practice, hearings, depositions, and trial preparation

• Familiarity with claims involving general liability, labor law, construction defects, and vehicle-related incidents is a plus

Benefits & Compensation:

• Base Salary: USD 150000 – USD 250000 per year (based on experience)
