Skytrain Attendant

British Columbia Rapid Transit Company Ltd. (BCRTC), a key player in Metro Vancouver's transportation network for over 35 years, is seeking a Skytrain Attendant PTR to join its team. This role involves ensuring exceptional customer service on trains and in stations, supporting one of the world’s longest fully-automated rapid transit systems.

The Skytrain Attendant will be responsible for assisting passengers, conducting fare inspections, performing passenger counts, addressing minor mechanical and electrical issues, responding to emergencies, ensuring security, and carrying out light custodial tasks. The role may involve manual train operation during emergencies or disruptions, for which successful completion of training and testing is required.

For faregate monitoring duties, additional responsibilities include monitoring and activating faregates and assisting customers via calls from designated monitoring stations.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver first-rate customer service across trains and stations.

• Conduct fare inspections, passenger counts, and respond to security incidents.

• Perform minor mechanical/electrical fault corrections and emergency response actions.

• Monitor and activate faregates as needed.

• Assist in manual operations of trains during emergencies or disruptions.

• Maintain station cleanliness and ensure smooth station operations.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.

• Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license.

• First aid certification (St. John’s standard or higher) preferred.

• Basic computer skills (for faregate monitoring).

• Ability to communicate clearly, follow instructions, and work effectively with the public.

Additional Information

• Work Schedule: 25–30 hours per week.

• Designation: On-site (Resident).
