Mercor, a San Francisco–based company connecting elite creative and technical talent with leading AI research labs, is seeking a Senior Sound Designer to work on a project-based remote contract. The Senior Sound Designer will play a critical role in developing immersive soundscapes and ensuring audio quality in AI-driven projects. You will collaborate with AI labs to enhance systems’ ability to interpret and generate sound with emotion, realism, and storytelling precision. This position offers flexibility, typically requiring 30–40 hours per week, with full independence to manage your schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and describe soundscapes for audio-visual content.

• Create and edit foley effects to produce realistic and immersive soundtracks.

• Engineer sound for clarity, depth, and listener engagement.

• Evaluate AI-generated sound outputs and provide refinements for improved accuracy and emotion.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in sound design, audio engineering, or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated success in film, gaming, music production, or immersive media projects.

• Proficiency with industry-standard audio tools (Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton, Reaper).

• Strong creative judgment, attention to sonic detail, and ability to work independently in a remote setting.

• Background in sound synchronization, audio storytelling, and familiarity with AI audio processing is a plus.
