Description:
SCIEX, a leading provider of mass spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis technologies, is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to join their Software and Applications Research Department. This role focuses on driving innovation in instrument control and acquisition to enhance performance and capabilities for scientific workflows. The position is based in Halifax, NS.
Responsibilities:
Test and develop novel hardware to improve analytical instrument performance.
Define and implement methodologies to verify or validate hardware/software performance under senior scientist mentorship.
Generate innovative ideas to advance scientific instrumentation technology.
Identify opportunities for product improvement within the defined research area.
Contribute to timely delivery of research projects and translate scientific or development risks into actionable research plans.
Requirements:
Higher-level science degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
Strong knowledge of instrument control, machine learning, and software development.
Proven publication record in fields related to novel instrumentation.
Experience with analytical instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience implementing AI/ML algorithms to solve scientific problems.
Ability to work independently.
Proven track record of innovation and patent generation.
