Payroll Supervisor

 

Description:

A leading and well-established national retail company in Canada is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to join their growing and dynamic environment in Montreal. This hybrid role offers a balance of remote and on-site work (3 days in the office, 2 days from home) in a modern and well-structured setting.

As a Payroll Supervisor, you will lead a skilled team consisting of three payroll technicians and one payroll specialist. You will be directly reporting to the Director of Payroll and will oversee high-volume payroll processing across Canada, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payroll functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, guide, and support the payroll team, ensuring high performance and continuous development.

  • Guarantee full compliance with federal and provincial labor and payroll regulations across all regions.

  • Manage end-of-year processes including T4s, RL slips, audits, and reconciliations.

  • Contribute to ongoing improvement projects related to payroll systems, automation, and processes.

  • Address complex payroll issues with professionalism and accuracy.

  • Collaborate with the finance department on general ledger (GL) entries, audits, and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory: LAP (Certified Payroll Manager) designation.

  • Excellent proficiency in Excel (including VLOOKUP, pivot tables).

  • Experience with payroll systems such as SAP, Kronos, and Dimensions is considered a strong asset.

  • Fully bilingual in French and English.

  • Strong analytical, coaching, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to drive team performance and ensure compliance.
