Payroll Analyst

The Payroll Analyst in this role will reporting to the Supervisor, Payroll Services, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations for both Canada and the US. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting a high-impact project as our company works towards standing up a new entity.

This role will play a role in daily operations and may play a role in supporting the implementation of payroll for the new entity. This role will involve gathering and reviewing payroll and time information, as well as assisting the payroll team in the preparation and processing of accurate payroll for all semi-monthly, biweekly, and weekly employees in Canada and the US, covering a workforce of 7,000 employees within established deadlines and in compliance with all federal, provincial, and state legislation.

Accountabilities
 

  • Assist the payroll team with day-to-day operational support
  • Execute payroll audit reports to validate and analyze information related to new hires, job changes, promotions, compensation changes, absences and return from absences, as well as terminations
  • Provide input and recommendations on process improvements and efficiencies
  • Participate in system testing to ensure resolution to technical issues and compliance
  • Participate in various projects to improve the overall quality of Payroll Services
  • Monitor the Payroll Inbox for Canada and the US, and respond to payroll queries from team members and external parties
  • Support the Payroll Supervisor in project deliverables
  • Maintain and create process documentation for projects
  • Assist with US tax filing and reconciliations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
     

Required
 

  • 5+ years of progressive Canadian and US payroll experience with a professional knowledge of all payroll legislative changes
  • Experience with Workday HR & Payroll or another large ERP system
  • Experience with Third Party Payroll Provider
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, manage tight deadlines, be flexible with changing priorities, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience working with a large organization of 1000+ employees
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Post-secondary education diploma or degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related discipline
    • Experience with SAP HR, Payroll, and Time
    • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, or spin-offs
    • Implementation experience with a large ERP or third-party system
    • Payroll Certification with NPI and or American Payroll Association would be a definite asset
