Description:
Cascadia Architects, a renowned architecture and design studio based in Victoria, is seeking an Intern Architect AIBC to join their creative and dynamic team. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about design, community, and urban development. As an Intern Architect, you will play a key role in contributing to the development of architectural designs, production of construction documents, and managing project tasks from conceptual stages to execution.
This position offers flexibility, opportunities for professional growth, and support for the Intern Architect AIBC registration process. The ideal candidate will be a self-directed, meticulous, and collaborative individual, eager to contribute to the firm’s diverse and sustainable projects.
Design, Documentation, and Communication:
Create conceptual and design drawings using design software.
Develop 3D models and visualizations for design presentations and reviews.
Implement design changes based on feedback from project architects, clients, or regulatory authorities.
Prepare comprehensive construction drawings and specifications.
Assist in preparing drawings for permit applications and ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Conduct code analyses and document compliance for review by the Architect of Record.
Communicate with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure design coordination.
Participate in research on building materials, products, and systems for design decisions.
Attend site visits to observe project progress and prepare site visit reports.
Project Management and Client Relations (as required):
Manage tasks, workloads, and schedules to ensure timely project delivery.
Present design concepts and proposals to clients, manage feedback, and align client expectations with project goals.
Track project progress and adjust as necessary to meet deadlines and objectives.
Organize and manage project documentation efficiently.
Project Support and Administrative Tasks:
Contribute to meetings by taking notes and engaging in discussions about project design and progress.
Maintain and organize project files and documentation as directed.
Participate in professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in architecture.
General Responsibilities:
Foster a culture of team building and continuous improvement.
Participate in daily huddles and regular meetings.
Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Track work hours accurately and on time.
Active enrollment or commitment to enroll as an Intern Architect with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC).
A Master’s Degree in Architecture is preferred.
Previous experience in an architectural firm is preferred, with student internships or relevant work a strong asset.
Proficiency in design software, particularly Revit (Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite are an asset).
Strong understanding of building systems, materials, and construction methods.
Knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.
Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, and contractors.

Flexible work schedule (30-37.5 hours per week).
Annual salary range of $70,000 - $85,000, with total compensation details shared during the interview.
3 weeks of paid vacation.
