Forklift Mechanic

Description:

Griffith Foods, a global family-run product development partner in the food industry, is seeking a dedicated Forklift Mechanic to join their team in Toronto, Ontario on a full-time, on-site basis. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Forklift Mechanic will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the company’s forklift and truck fleet.

This position is essential to keeping Griffith Foods’ operations running smoothly across all departments by performing maintenance, managing inventory, ordering parts, training personnel, and upholding safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance and repairs on forklift trucks and other company vehicles

• Manage the forklift and aerial man lift fleet, including batteries and chargers

• Ensure compliance with annual inspection standards and government regulations

• Order parts, batteries, and equipment with attention to cost-efficiency

• Maintain accurate preventative maintenance (PM) schedules

• Train plant personnel in the safe operation and basic maintenance of forklifts and aerial lifts

• Oversee safety programs related to all lifting equipment

• Move large equipment in and around the plant as needed

• Provide support for general plant maintenance and special projects

• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in accordance with legal and company policies

Qualifications:

• Completion of a recognized Community College program or certification as a Class A Mechanic or Millwright, or equivalent experience

• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience

• Ability to lift 50–75 lbs

• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Skilled in multitasking and identifying opportunities for process improvement

• Ability to work independently and take initiative
