Financial Accountant

Reporting to the Controller, the Financial Accountant will play a key role in the preparation of financial statements and support critical financial reporting functions. This role is ideal for a CPA-designated professional with midstream oil and gas experience who is looking to advance their career in a dynamic and growth-oriented organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and relevant regulations

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies efficiently

• Prepare and post journal entries for accurate financial transaction recording

• Collaborate with operational teams to collect and verify financial data for reporting

• Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and variance analyses

• Support audit processes by supplying financial data and documentation

• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting tasks

• Research and analyze IFRS accounting matters and apply GAAP principles

• Recommend and implement process improvements for financial reporting

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and industry regulations

• Handle various ad-hoc accounting requests as needed

Qualifications and Skills:

• CPA designation is required

• Minimum three years of industry or public accounting experience

• Solid knowledge of IFRS and GAAP; midstream oil & gas accounting experience preferred

• Familiarity with Qbyte or similar oil and gas accounting systems is an asset

• Strong general ledger and financial statement preparation experience

• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative work style
