Description:
Kalesnikoff, a family-owned, fourth-generation timber company, is seeking a highly skilled Estimator to support Mass Timber Projects. The Estimator will work closely with the Sales Team and Director of Manufacturing to ensure accurate project estimates, conduct detailed quantity takeoffs, and prepare budget and tender proposals. Responsibilities:
- Develop 3D geometry models from structural/architectural drawings for estimates
- Solicit supply pricing and stay informed about market products
- Review tenders and bid requests to ensure scopes of work align with proposals
- Develop budget estimates using preliminary design documents
- Attend design assist meetings and provide input on design and constructability improvements
- Track quoted projects and follow up on bids
- Identify cost-saving modifications for project teams
- Use load calculations to determine material grades and connection types
- Assess project scope changes due to addendums and their impact on pricing
- Prepare quote documents and tender packages
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Civil Technology or Construction Technology
- 2+ years of experience in project management and/or estimating (preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project) and estimate takeoff software (Onscreen Takeoff, Bluebeam)
- Experience with CADwork, Rhino, Revit, or 3D design software (an asset)
Work Conditions:
- Monday – Friday schedule, occasional overtime required
- Primarily desk work, with occasional visits to the production facility
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when in production areas
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $65,000 – $80,000
