TC Energy is seeking a Director, Business Development to work within the Liquids Pipelines Business Development group. Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development, the successful candidate will participate in all aspects of reviewing and evaluating new business development initiatives and preparing material for marketing and management review. The successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of the everchanging liquids industry within Canada and the United States.

What You'll Do
 

  • Lead a team to identify, develop and market Liquids (crude oil) business opportunities, including both new-build and acquisitions, in collaboration with the company’s corporate development group;
  • Work closely with the rest of the business unit leadership team in creating business development strategies to support the direction of the Liquids Pipelines business unit
  • Maintain deep understanding of the evolving liquids energy markets (including the political and economic environment) across North America and ensure it is incorporated into strategy and priorities
  • Oversee aspects of opportunity advancement, including commercial structuring, marketing, customer and partner negotiations and working with various internal stakeholders in advancing opportunities from concept to sanctioning, in accordance with TC Energy processes;
  • Significant interaction with internal stakeholder groups, including Engineering, Operations, HR, Legal, Finance, Evaluations, Corporate Development, Tax, and risk and leading these groups through the business development process (from initial prospecting through project implementation)
  • Lead and develop a high performing team;
  • Demonstrate TC Energy values in all activities
  • Promote and maintain a culture of Safety in the workplace
  • Other tasks as required.
     

Minimum Qualifications
 

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business or Economics;
  • A minimum of 10 years of commercial and development experience
  • Experience with crude oil and liquids industry is required. A combination of the Oil, Gas, NGL and power industries will be considered
  • Travel up to 25 percent of their time, between Canada and the United States will be required. The successful must be able to provide necessary documentation to support this need
