Customer Operations Technician

 

Description:

Installations

  • Racks and stacks customer equipment

  • Reads installation plans (Visio Drawings / Spreadsheets) and implements installation accordingly

  • Installs circuits requiring advanced fiber terminations


Queue Management

  • Determines work priorities from the Oracle queue and ensures adherence to all commit times


Testing/Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoots switched / multiplexed / media converted circuits; escalates to, and works with networking group, as needed.

  • Works with customers to troubleshoot issues


Cross Connects

  • Installs/tests/modifies cross connects per SOPs and ensures proper cable management of: coax, fiber, twisted pair copper, and intra-building cross connects

  • Installs and tests advanced cross connects circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.)


Documentation/Reporting

  • Maintains detailed written records of all work activity


Projects

  • Designs and leads cage / infrastructure modification projects


Training

  • Completes all assigned training in a timely manner


Customer Management

  • Supports customer satisfaction through timely and precise order execution


Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience with Layer 1 and Layer 2 IT installations or equivalent education

  • High School Diploma

  • Must be able to work night shift in technician rotation when necessary

  • The ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required

  • Secret clearance is strongly preferred

  • Candidates without a security clearance must be willing to undergo a Tier 3 federal background investigation that Equinix will facilitate
