Description:
The purpose of the Content Strategist is to develop and implement content which will promote the work of the International Development Department and its many programs.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist the resource media coordinator in providing strategic and operational support to marketing and media initiatives for the International Development Department
- Create and design engaging content for both online platforms (Facebook, Instagram, twitter) and written published works.
- Support the development and implementation of promotional and fundraising materials.
- Assist in developing promotional material for 2 significant campaigns (Brighter Futures and Under the Tree) and any future campaigns that the International Development Office undertakes.
- Support the International Development Department with innovative presentations and ideas to engage individuals and the public in the ministry of International Development.
- Develop ideas for improving newsletters and other platforms
- Provide technical support for the International Development Office
- Provide secretarial and administrative duties as needed.
Education and Experience Qualifications
- Completing/Completed a University/College degree in Communications, graphic design or a related field.
- At least 3 - 6 months of experience working in digital marketing, communications or advertising
- Presentation of Portfolio preferable
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to write and structure content clearly
- Creative and attentive to detail
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, in-Design and Acrobat, Microsoft Office
- Solid Interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Understanding and support of the mission of The Salvation Army in an international context
The successful candidate must meet the requirements under the Canada Summer Jobs Program
- Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred
- Is legally entitled to work according to the provincial / territorial legislations and regulations
