Communications & Public Relations Specialist

Description:

Efficiency Manitoba, a provincial Crown corporation, is seeking a Communications & Public Relations Specialist to develop and implement communication strategies that enhance brand recognition and public engagement. This role will involve media relations, content creation, and strategic communication planning to support Efficiency Manitoba’s initiatives in reducing electricity and natural gas consumption across homes, businesses, and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

📢 Communication & Media Relations

• Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans.
• Create and distribute news releases, advisory notes, and media kits.
• Act as a spokesperson and respond to media inquiries professionally.
• Maintain and build relationships with journalists, editors, producers, and influencers.

🎙 Public Engagement & Brand Awareness

• Coordinate Efficiency Manitoba’s participation in media interviews (TV, radio, online).
• Oversee contracts and agreements with media partners.
• Proactively engage with media on energy efficiency topics and pitch relevant stories.

📈 Strategic Content & Marketing Support

• Plan and prepare seasonal and newsworthy content for public engagement.
• Support branding efforts, internal and external communication initiatives.
• Ensure all communications align with Efficiency Manitoba’s mission and legislated requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

✅ Education & Experience:

• Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a related role.
• Experience in energy efficiency marketing and Demand Side Management is an asset.

✅ Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and Google Analytics (preferred).

✅ Soft Skills:

• Strong customer service orientation and enthusiasm for energy conservation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to engage with stakeholders and media professionals effectively.
