The Institute for Management and Innovation (IMI) at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) is inviting applications for a 2-year Contractually Limited Term Appointment (CLTA) at the rank of Assistant Professor in Urban Innovation, commencing July 1, 2024.
The selected candidate will be responsible for advancing teaching, research, and professional engagement within the Master of Urban Innovation (MUI) program, which focuses on urban economic development, governance, innovation management, community capacity building, and sustainable urban economies.
This role requires a strong commitment to applied and experiential learning approaches, including managing client-based capstone projects, while teaching in two or more of the following areas:
Social sustainability of cities
Urban and regional economic development
Urban politics and governance
Urban sustainability
Applicants should demonstrate excellence in research through high-quality publications, conference presentations, awards, and endorsements from recognized referees. Evidence of teaching excellence should include teaching accomplishments, strong reference letters, and a comprehensive teaching dossier with evaluations and course materials.
The successful candidate will align their research and teaching with the MUI program’s mission to equip students with a deeper understanding of urban innovation, governance, and the challenges of equitable, inclusive, and sustainable urban growth. Preference will be given to candidates with community engagement experience, applied professional expertise, and prior teaching in professional programs.
The Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI) is home to UTM’s professional graduate and undergraduate programs, offering interdisciplinary, experiential, and applied education in innovation, management, and sustainability. Faculty members contribute to multiple programs, including:
