Assistant Coach And Assistant General Manager

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dryden, ON, serving as both an Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager for the Dryden GM Ice Dogs Jr A Hockey Club. The individual will be responsible for assisting in team coaching, player development, and game strategy. Additionally, responsibilities will include supporting the general management of team operations, overseeing player recruitment, logistics, and communications, and fostering a positive team culture. This role requires active collaboration with players, coaching staff, and stakeholders within the organization.

 

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs are seeking a motivated, passionate, and driven individual to join our organization as Assistant Coach / Assistant General Manager.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing Junior A program committed to developing elite athletes both on and off the ice while building a championship culture in the Superior International Junior Hockey League.

 

Position Summary:

 

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coach / General Manager in all areas of hockey operations, player development, recruiting, and team management.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Coaching Duties:

 

* Assist in planning and executing daily practices

* Help oversee bench management during games

* Video breakdown and pre-scout preparation

* Individual skill development with players

* Promote team culture, discipline, and accountability

* Support player advancement to higher levels of hockey

 

Management Duties:

 

* Recruit prospective players across Canada, USA, and internationally

* Build and maintain relationships with players, families, advisors, and coaches

* Assist with roster management and player evaluations

* Manage player database and scouting reports

* Coordinate team travel, logistics, and hockey operations as needed

 

Qualifications:

 

* Previous coaching and/or playing experience at Junior, College, or Professional level preferred

* Strong communication and leadership skills

* Excellent organizational skills and work ethic

* Passion for player development and recruiting

* Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel throughout the season

* Video editing/scouting software experience is an asset
