Description:
The Alberta Human Rights Commission is hiring two summer law students to aid the Director and legal counsels with their work including writing draft decisions, researching and writing legal opinions, assisting with drafting legal briefs, and attending tribunal dispute resolution meetings and hearings.
We are looking for people who have:
- An understanding of the Alberta Human Rights Act and human rights principles.
- Experience working with diverse communities, including lived experience. E.g. people with mental or physical disabilities, racialized communities, indigenous people, 2SLGBTQI+, people with lower socio-economic status and other marginalized groups.
- Experience interpreting and applying legislation to unique situations.
- Experience in legal research and writing.
- Experience in administrative investigations, mediations, or other alternative dispute resolution methods.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- Students must be enrolled in Law School and must be available to work full-time from May 1, 2024, to August 29, 2024.
- The ideal candidates will have excellent written and oral communication skills along with legal research, technological proficiency and writing experience.
