Student Affairs Director

 

Description:

St. Jerome’s University, a Catholic liberal arts university federated with the University of Waterloo, is seeking a visionary and collaborative Director, Student Affairs to lead a comprehensive student support program rooted in the university’s philosophy of “Educating the Whole Person.” The Director plays a key leadership role in ensuring a holistic, inclusive, and values-based experience for students co-registered or living in residence at SJU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of all Student Affairs programming and initiatives.

  • Manage and mentor the Student Affairs team responsible for academic advising, residence life, service learning, wellness, student development, and leadership programs.

  • Oversee budgets, assess program effectiveness, and ensure best practices in student services.

  • Foster equity and inclusivity by reducing barriers for students from equity-deserving groups.

  • Align student engagement activities with institutional values of trust, community, and lifelong learning.

  • Develop, implement, and review policies and practices for student success and wellbeing.

  • Resolve complex student issues with tact, diplomacy, and collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline required (doctoral studies or degree preferred), ideally in Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience in student services with a demonstrated history of leadership in higher education.

  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams and multi-unit departments.

  • Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with strategic planning, program evaluation, budget oversight, and policy development.

  • Equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) experience/training considered an asset.

  • Must be eligible to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check.
