Strategic Account Representative

 

Description:

MSC Industrial Supply Co., a leading North American distributor of metalworking and MRO products, is hiring a Strategic Account Representative for their Mississauga office. The role focuses on developing long-term profitable sales growth by opening new large accounts in a defined geographic area. The successful candidate will develop and implement prospecting initiatives, negotiate and close new business, and meet monthly revenue quotas.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet sales and market plan goals focused on new account development

  • Develop quality prospects and identify customer needs through comprehensive analysis

  • Negotiate long-term contracts and establish pricing schedules aligned with gross margin objectives

  • Manage metrics demonstrating MSC’s value proposition to customers

  • Conduct customer surveys and design planographs based on customer needs

  • Provide market intelligence to support company goals

  • Submit timely reports to management

  • Foster MSC’s culture and vision throughout the department and company

  • Participate in special projects as required

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED minimum; 2-4 year college degree preferred

  • Minimum 3 years proven success in solution-based selling in value-added environments

  • Strong organizational, communication, listening, and presentation skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively across varied audiences (boardrooms, shop floors, purchasing agents)

  • Ability to develop reports, proposals, and sales strategies

  • High integrity and ability to build customer relationships quickly

  • Proficient in productivity tools such as laptops, spreadsheets, email, contact management software

  • Technical product knowledge (fasteners, chemicals, industrial maintenance, electrical, plumbing, welding, shop supplies) preferred

  • Understanding of economic, finance, and business profitability concepts

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel up to 75% of the time, including some overnight stays

  • Ability to lift/move products up to 40 pounds


Compensation:

  • Starting salary $50,000 - $65,000 plus subsidy and commissions

  • Compensation is based on experience, education, and market conditions
