Senior Sdet Engineer

Description:

Iris Software Inc. is seeking a Senior SDET Engineer for their Fortune 100 direct client, located in Toronto, ON, to join their team on a contract basis. This role is ideal for seasoned QA professionals with deep experience in automation development, API testing, UI testing, and BDD frameworks. The engineer will be responsible for implementing advanced test automation strategies, working closely with development teams, and integrating testing into a CI/CD pipeline within an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop robust test automation scripts using Java and Selenium WebDriver.

• Conduct API testing using tools like RestAssured and Postman.

• Implement BDD testing frameworks using Cucumber with Gherkin syntax.

• Use TestNG or JUnit for organizing and executing automated tests in parallel.

• Perform database testing by writing and executing complex SQL queries in relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.

• Utilize Maven for build management and Git for version control.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies like sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins or TeamCity.

• Maintain clear documentation, debug and troubleshoot test failures, and improve test coverage and efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong programming background in Java or a comparable language.

• Proficiency in UI test automation with Selenium WebDriver.

• Hands-on experience with REST API testing tools and frameworks.

• Deep understanding of BDD with Cucumber.

• Experience with test orchestration tools (TestNG, JUnit).

• Advanced SQL skills for validating backend data.

• Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Maven, Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD systems.

• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.

• Agile/Scrum project environment experience.
