Description:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical design, automation, control systems, and integration of our specialized equipment, from initial requirements through commissioning.
You will work closely with mechanical engineers, scientists, and other technical team members to develop reliable, high-performance systems for our clients.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from design and programming to testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical control panels in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including CSA and UL.
- Create, modify, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Develop, test, and debug PLC programs for automated systems.
- Design and implement LabVIEW-based applications for system control, data acquisition, and testing.
- Integrate electrical, electronic, hardware, and software components into fully functional systems.
- Participate in the assembly, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of equipment.
- Support system commissioning and optimization at the company and, when required, at customer sites.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful system integration.
- Take ownership of assigned engineering projects and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Provide technical support to customers when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical systems, automation, controls, and/or system hardware and software design.
- Experience designing electrical control panels and industrial control systems.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting PLCs.
- Experience developing applications with LabVIEW.
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation and control systems.
- Experience with electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or PC Schematic.
- Hands-on experience with equipment integration, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.) is an asset.
