Senior Civil Engineer

IN Engineering + Planning, a multi-disciplinary consulting firm specializing in design, planning, engineering, and construction, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer – Water Resources to join its team in Brockville, Ontario. Serving communities across Eastern Ontario—including Kingston, Ottawa, Cornwall, Perth, Smiths Falls, and Kemptville—the firm delivers innovative engineering solutions across residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.

As Senior Civil Engineer, you will take a leadership role in overseeing water resources and civil engineering projects, guiding land development, and managing infrastructure designs. You will be responsible for ensuring construction aligns with design specifications, leading technical teams, supporting clients, and delivering projects that meet quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead subdivision, water resources, and commercial development projects through all stages of land development.

• Oversee and ensure compliance with civil engineering design intent on construction projects.

• Support field engineers by providing technical guidance, risk assessments, dispute resolution, and responses to technical queries.

• Monitor QA/QC procedures and ensure compliance with construction standards.

• Conduct on-site inspections to validate assumptions made during design and ensure field conditions align with plans.

• Provide technical, financial, and contract management for water supply, sewers, stormwater, roads, and site servicing projects.

• Manage client, council, and stakeholder engagement effectively.

• Lead and mentor junior and intermediate engineering staff, fostering professional growth and development.

• Drive business development by identifying new project opportunities and leading proposal submissions.

• Utilize civil design software and AutoCAD to deliver high-quality engineering drawings; SketchUp/Layout skills are an asset.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.

• 10+ years of relevant industry experience.

• Registered or eligible for immediate registration as a P.Eng. with Professional Engineers Ontario.

• Strong knowledge of the civil design process and civil engineering software applications.

• Proven leadership experience managing teams and delivering large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Business development experience and knowledge of the local Eastern Ontario market.

• Engineering Technician diploma, permit drawing preparation experience, and technical drafting considered assets.
