Description:

Drax Group is seeking an experienced and dedicated Millwright to join its operations in Entwistle, Alberta. This critical role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and safety of industrial machinery used in sustainable energy production. The Millwright will perform installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment while supporting a strong culture of safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety and Compliance

  • Lead and promote Drax’s strong safety culture across all operations.

  • Mentor and train employees to ensure proper safety compliance, competency, and documentation.

  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and safe work areas.

  • Use Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all chemical handling and ensure team training.

  • Participate actively in the Occupational Health & Safety Committee.

  • Complete all safety-related training as part of the Plant Operator Development Program.

Technical and Maintenance Operations

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of industrial machinery to maintain peak operational performance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues quickly and effectively.

  • Collaborate closely with other trades to improve safety, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Support strategic capital projects, shutdowns, and upgrades.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.

Leadership and Mentorship

  • Serve as a role model for safe work practices.

  • Mentor and guide Millwright Apprentices, fostering professional growth.

  • Participate in planning and execution of maintenance projects to ensure deadlines and safety standards are met.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Certification: Red Seal Certified Millwright.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in heavy industry (pellet, particle board, or fibre board preferred).

  • Technical Skills:

    • Welding and fabrication experience (asset).

    • Familiarity with wet precipitators and heavy machinery operations.

    • Proficiency with computer-based work order systems and maintenance software.

  • Personal Attributes:

    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    • Ability to adapt to schedule changes and work independently.

    • Valid driver’s license required.
