Principal Product Manager

Description:

Yelp is seeking a seasoned Principal Product Manager to join its Applied Machine Learning Product Team. This fully remote role (open to candidates across Canada) offers a unique opportunity to influence cross-functional product strategy by accelerating ML-driven outcomes across the company.

You will lead a horizontal product charter focused on identifying the highest-value ML opportunities in collaboration with engineering, data science, and vertical product teams. Your role will not only involve driving initiatives end-to-end but also providing strategic direction to embed AI/ML capabilities across product lines such as personalization, user intent understanding, and large language model adoption.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders across the company to understand business priorities and identify where ML solutions can create measurable value.

• Own a horizontal ML domain (e.g., personalization) and ensure its scalable integration into multiple vertical product areas.

• Scope, validate, and lead new product investments based on ambiguous and emerging opportunities.

• Actively guide and influence other ML product managers across the company to align with broader strategic goals.

• Translate complex ML and technical concepts into clear and actionable plans for product execution and leadership communications.

• Interface directly with executive stakeholders and the C-suite, providing insight-driven updates and strategic recommendations.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of product management experience, with hands-on experience building machine learning applications.

• Strong strategic thinking and execution skills; capable of managing 0–1 product initiatives with limited precedent.

• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, especially executive leadership.

• Proven track record of building trust across cross-functional teams in a matrixed organizational structure.

• Generalist product mindset — able to operate fluidly across diverse technical and business problem areas.

• Ability to distill complex technical topics into clear insights and plans.
