The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical research center affiliated with McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine. The laboratory of Dr. Mallory Downie is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to groundbreaking research on genetic risk factors in childhood kidney disease. This role involves bioinformatics, epidemiology, and genomics to identify new genetic markers using large-scale datasets and multi-ancestral populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent bioinformatic research on large genetic datasets.
- Collaborate with research teams, including international and interdisciplinary groups.
- Develop computational pipelines and research methodologies for genomic studies.
- Assist in setting up bioinformatics computing infrastructure for the lab.
- Mentor graduate students and junior trainees in research projects.
- Contribute to research proposals, grant writing, and academic publications.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Expertise in genomic data analysis (e.g., genome-wide association studies, genetic risk scores, Mendelian randomization).
- Strong programming skills in R/Python for bioinformatics applications.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative research environment.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
