Description:
The Adaptive Bionics Lab, within the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate under Dr. Emily Rogers-Bradley. This role focuses on research projects in robotic prosthesis design, exoskeleton development, biomechanical experimentation, and musculoskeletal modeling. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2025, or earlier depending on candidate availability.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and set up experiments; lead data collection and analysis
Technical design of mechanisms and actuators using first principles for novel designs
Lead development in musculoskeletal and biomechanical modeling and optimization
Collaborate closely with researchers, faculty, and graduate students
Lead preparation of research papers and conference presentations
Assist Principal Investigator (PI) with laboratory management tasks
Qualifications:
PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
Strong record of academic publications
Proficient English language skills (TOEFL iBT 86+, IELTS 6.5+, Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency 180+, PTE 59+, or CAEL 70+)
Preferred experience in experimental biomechanics OR precision machine and actuator design
Strong work ethic with ability to independently drive research and supervise graduate students
