Description:
SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) is seeking a Platform Administrator to join their IT Infrastructure team in Toronto. SOCAN is a non-profit copyright collective representing nearly 200,000 music creators and publishers. The Platform Administrator will manage a diverse IT infrastructure environment, ensuring security, reliability, and performance across cloud and on-premise platforms.
The role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining SOCAN’s core infrastructure components including virtualization, storage, networking, cloud services, and application environments. It also requires collaborating with internal teams and stakeholders to implement secure, scalable, and efficient systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and monitor IT infrastructure systems (network, compute, storage, cloud)
Design and implement new technologies and infrastructure improvements
Ensure secure configurations using industry standards (e.g., CIS benchmarks)
Conduct vulnerability assessments, remediation, and patch management
Perform capacity planning, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations
Support cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure IaaS/PaaS) with a focus on security and automation
Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, and change management
Use automation tools for configuration management and deployments
Work collaboratively with project stakeholders across SOCAN
Core Technologies & Tools:
Virtualization: VMware vSphere 8.x, NSX-T, Tanzu
Systems: Windows & Linux OS
Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS), familiarity with AWS a plus
Applications: Active Directory, PKI
Scripting/Automation: PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform, Ansible, AWX
Containers: Docker, Kubernetes
Qualifications & Experience:
Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in IT or related certifications
Proven experience with enterprise infrastructure support and automation
Hands-on scripting with PowerShell and Python
Experience with cloud environments (Azure preferred)
Understanding of virtualization, containerization, and security best practices
Excellent communication and customer service skills
