Job Description

The Patient Care Assistant will perform duties related to the preparation and post exam care of patients for CT and MRI studies.

Accountabilities:

  • Customer service
  • Ensuring patient completion of pre-screening documents
  • Intravenous insertion where indicated
  • Providing instructions to patients such as waiting or changing into a gown
  • Duties also include basic patient care

Qualifications

  • Graduate of certified medical laboratory assistant program or equivalent program including venipuncture
  • Health sciences background with preference to candidates with medical radiation technology experience
  • Medical terminology
  • Venipuncture experience required
  • CPR certification an asset
  • Customer service skills
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures, terminology and workflow including CT and MRI an asset
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging computer systems an asset (i.e. PACS, RIS, HIS)
  • Knowledge of MRI safety and radiation safety practices an asset
  • Previous training on safe lifting and transferring techniques an asset
  • Computer knowledge
  • Multi-tasking ability/critical thinking/problem solving
  • Team player/excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills, able to prioritize
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and inter-professional team environment
  • Innovative and willing to learn
  • Demonstrate individual leadership
