Role Overview:
Provide quality, patient-focused nursing care in the Mother Baby Unit for patients with less complex needs, predictable outcomes, and lower risk for negative outcomes. Work in alignment with Osler’s nursing practice standards, the College of Nurses of Ontario, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safe nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Provide professional, compassionate, patient-centred care in a culturally diverse setting.

  • Follow infection prevention and control measures.

  • Respond to changes in patient status and emergencies using transfer of accountability principles.

  • Provide health teaching and thorough discharge instructions to patients and families.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years postpartum experience (within the last 5 years) – required

  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate or proof of enrollment within 30 days of hire – required

  • RNAO breastfeeding e-learning course – required

  • Obstetrics Nursing certificate or proof of enrollment within 30 days – required

  • Sugar, temperature, airway, blood pressure, lab work & emotional support course completion or proof within 30 days – required

  • Operating room scrub experience/course – preferred

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario – required

  • BCLS – required

  • Strong knowledge of nursing process, theory, and professional standards

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in patient and family health teaching

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development

  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and client safety guidelines

  • Availability to travel/work across Osler sites as needed

  • Excellent attendance and punctuality record

Schedule:
12-hour shifts (days/nights), including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to operational changes).
