Network Technician

 

Description:

Cogeco Connexion is seeking a Technicien de réseau (Network Technician) to perform maintenance, repair, installation, and optimization of master lines, distribution lines, headends, and reception sites. The technician will also identify opportunities to promote and sell company products and services while ensuring customer satisfaction and network reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform analysis and repairs on various components of headends, reception sites, master and distribution lines.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on network infrastructure.

  • Install, relocate, and prepare master/distribution lines and associated electronic components.

  • Execute system start-up activities and ensure optimal signal quality in all interventions.

  • Carry out signal balancing, radiation surveys, and apply corrective measures when needed.

  • Perform performance verification tests and prepare analytical reports.

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, parts, and accessories.

  • Participate in network design, preliminary surveys, and prepare sketches or plans when required.

  • Provide technical coordination between Cogeco and public utility companies or other partners.

  • Handle optical fiber network tasks such as installation, relocation, adjustment, and fault correction.

  • Conduct underground cable location for third parties.

  • Support training of new employees and collaborate closely with technical teams.

  • Promote customer retention by addressing issues, preventing cancellations, and ensuring service satisfaction.


Job Requirements:

  • Education: D.E.C. or A.E.C. in Electronics or Telecommunications.

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years as a telecommunications or installation/service technician.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Understanding of telecom networks, signal propagation, analog/digital network diagnostics.

    • Knowledge of optical systems, voltage/current measurements (V=RI), and applied math for telecom.

    • Ability to read and interpret plans, network diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Computer Proficiency: Comfortable using digital tools and network analysis software.

  • Physical Condition: Able to lift up to 35 kg and perform physically demanding work.

  • Driver’s License: Must have or be eligible for a Class 3 license within 12 months.

  • Availability: Must be available for on-call rotations, evening, and night work (maintenance or outages).

Work Schedule and Compensation:

  • Regular Workweek: 37.5 hours (Monday to Friday).

  • Hourly Rate: $29.44 – $47.96 per hour (approximately $4770 – $7760 monthly).
