Description:
The Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame is seeking a Museum Assistant for a Summer Student Position from June 2 to August 22, 2025. This is a paid position at $17 per hour for 35 hours a week. The Museum Assistant will support various tasks related to collections management, exhibit development, event coordination, and administration.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the execution of a major collections storage move and reorganization.
Organize digital files related to collections.
Assist with collections acquisitions and deaccessions, reconcile old loans and incomplete donation records, and update the collections database.
Support exhibit development and installation as part of a major museum renovation.
Help with fundraiser and revenue generation administration.
Provide assistance with programming and events as needed.
Eligibility Requirements:
Candidates must be eligible for the Young Canada Works (YCW) grant and apply through the YCW platform. To qualify, applicants must:
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada.
Be legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid Social Insurance Number).
Be between 16 and 30 years old at the start of employment.
Be a full-time student, returning to studies in the fall.
Additional Information:
Priority will be given to graduates who have not previously participated in YCW internship programs and those who are unemployed or underemployed. The ideal candidate should have background education or work experience in museums, archives, libraries, or galleries, and possess strong computer, writing, research, and organizational skills.
