Description:
Museum Interpreter (Museum Assistant)
- Conduct tours of museums, gallery exhibitions and historical, heritage and other sites
- Answer inquiries and provide information concerning exhibits or sites.
- Assists in research, handling and storage of artifacts.
- Assists the Heritage Curator with research projects, tour guide volunteers and acts as a docent/custodian in the museum and participates with visitor experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalency; completion of one (1) year or more of post-secondary schooling is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Proven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies, including Word, Excel and other database/software.
- Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
- Experience working in an office and team environment, an asset.
As per Canada Summer Jobs criteria, candidates must be;
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of employment
- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work according to BC legislation and regulation.
- International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
